Hi,

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean when you say a person says, "good luck" and they take your visa away. Why would they want to do this?

Am I mistaken that to get the visa you need to be sponsered by a school. If so, wouldn't the school want to have you enter the country?

Perhaps I'm being completely niave here. Please inform me since I'm thinkin of accepting a position (I should get the contract tomorrow or the next day).

Many thanks,

Patrick

I've dealt with the visa agency at the Chinese consulate in LA many times. You go in, give them the forms, your passport and the fee. A couple of days later you go back and pick up your passport with the visa in it. The last couple of times I have gone to China the travel agency processed the visa for a very small fee. Last time they got a multiple entry business visa for me and they took care of the invitation letter.

There are a lot of Chinese travel agents in LA. You can not only get your visa handled by the agency, but the tickets are a lot cheaper there too.
