I am a 39 year-old Canadian woman currently enrolled in the CELTA program (finishing mid-May). I have a Bachelor's degree (Science) and some University teaching experience (2 semesters teaching Nutrition). I had been working in Pharma Sales for the last 9 years and was ready for a change...hence CELTA.
Ideally, I prefer a position in a country where I will be able to save some money. I've been told Asia and the Middle East are the best options. However, I love Istanbul and it is definately my first choice. The issue is I am unsure if I'd be able to earn enough to accumulate any savings living and working in Istanbul. If not, is there anywhere in Turkey one might be able to save a bit of money?
I would appreciate any and all feedback. |

Istanbul has the highest cost of living out of all the cities in Turkey. With that said, there are definitely affordable areas to live in. The pay is pretty good at most private schools and will allow you to live comfortably and save some as well.
When you start applying to schools, ask around the forum to see if they are reputable or not. Good luck and happy hunting ! |

After Istanbul what other cities would be a good place to teach.
Is there a top five for Turkey? |

Hey are you also from the Detroit area?
You might want to look into teaching in your subject area in private schools in Turkey, you'd earn more money and University jobs are pretty good. It happens. |
