Hi Greenacres
I was invited to run a teacher training course in Montevideo. I loved it there. The quality of life is very high, the people are wonderful, and it seemed to me to be a very prosperous city. Uruguayans recently voted for economic reforms by referendum resulting in a much more stable financial sector and more socilised economy. It is now the richest country in South America. There is a growing software development industry that is fueling the market for English language teaching. The university is also very good.
Good luck! |

Ditto the OP's request.
I've been trying to make a contact with ESL teachers in Montevideo for quite a while now....but tough luck.
I'm getting the impression it's not such a good gig or maybe e best kept secret. Who knows? |

Thanks. I actually plan to go there in the next few years. It's nice to know that it's a good place now. I think it is a big secret, but perhaps, not for long. |

What's the cost of living there? Most capital cities are fairly expensive no matter where you go. Being a coastal town it would probably be difficult finding a cheap flat.
If I considered a place like this I'd want to enroll in a native language course for a few weeks first. |
