This is actually (I think) through an expat group and is not always at Java Studio. Sometimes it is at the Family Pizza Place in Sultanahmet. Occassionally, different groups meet at different places. As far as I know, you do not have to bring a book to take a book and they also exchange DVDs. To join the group for free, go to www.sublimeportal.com. It is a great group of people and there are many social activities to attend.

Given the large demand for books in English I am surprised that there are not more Book Exchanges.

As it is I always shed a few lira passing through Istanbul in Pandora's and Robinson Crusoe. My problem now is that I acquire books faster than I read them !

There are quite a few, but they're organized on the Portal and on Facebook. Hope to see you at one eventually!

Tell me more. I am obsessive about acquiring and exchanging books. Reading the d*** things is secondary. Should I get therapy ?

I am actually the creator of the facebook group: do a keyword search for "Istanbul book exchange". All we expect if you join is that you post a brief intro to keep out the "magandas" who want.... well you know what they want! Wink If you want to hold your own exchange, let me know and I will give you admin power.... other admins occasionally run exchanges in Etiler and Sultanahmet. There is one on Sublime portal too.

I haven't organized anything regular for a while because I've been swamped with work, but I'll be done in 3 weeks and I'm looking forward to sharing some books and socializing!

Hope to see you there!

(Edit:) Wow the maganda brigade is already out in force! Please Note: The facebook group is for Expats and Turks who are fluent in English. If you are neither of these I will not approve your request to join the group! Razz
