Guangdong Ocean University?

BTW, jobs have been slow appearing up here (Jilin Province).

I really don't want to leave the NE, but it's a job...Also, I hope the answers about GOU will help others.

Thanks, Cube

I worked there for a year and will tell you emphatically: Do not trust ANYONE in the Foreign Affairs Office there. They lie so repeatedly and so often I think they don't even remember what the truth is. That school still owes me thousands of yuan that I've written off ever seeing. The salary I was promised was reduced by 1000 yuan before I'd even taught one class and it was downhill from there. Please: Don't go there. TELL them heard you heard about this. It's the only chance I have of ever getting my money. .

Indeed they have a nefarious name in the greater Guangzhou area. They are well known for their little scams. Avoid them. There are a lot better ones than this in Guangzhou but still because of the serious condition of the economy in GZ and the large number of FT's looking for work there, it's truly like swimming with sharks these days down there.

There is a para-governmental organization in Jilin that is dolling out a lot of these days. I don't know if I saved the email that I got from them or not but if I can locate it, I will PM you the details.

Oh, that's horrible. Really sorry that happened to you. That's just awful. Thanks so much. I'll write them now & mention your letter.

I have had a recruiter aggressively trying to sell me on this school, as well as some others. I rejected it because their contract was creepy, but I have a feeling now that the schools with bad reputations get recruiters to push them.

Glad I read this.
