Hello Turkey forum.. I have a friend that wants to learn Italian. Are there any places in Istanbul that teach Italian or any Universities that offer Italian classes. I think anywhere to start would be a good place to start for him. I appreciate any information I can get. Thanks and Peace |

I have no info regarding any on site courses in Istanbul, but if your friend has good English skills (e.g. IELTS 6 - 6.5 or higher), I can certainly recommend the Michel Thomas Foundation Course (8 CD's) & the Advanced Course (4 CD's) ..
From Amazon you can get both (New) for a total of around $70.
Starting from zero beginner, I was impressed by the way they gave me a lot of knowledge painlessly and quickly ... and how they gave me confidence in pronunciation and speaking ... by the end of it, you've constructed sentences in the present, past, future, conditional, subjunctive and imperative!
Your friend would need to work with a different course book at the same time to develop his vocab, reading and listening etc .. but while he was waiting to find / join a course he could fill his time extremely constructively with the above |

I have seen signs advertising that Dilmer (near Taksim) has Italian courses, and a variety of other languages too. I am not sure how often they start, or know of anyone who has taken courses there. There is also a chain of schools (I remember seeing one near Bagdat Street) that advertise Spanish and Italian only. For the life of me I can not remember the name though. |

AFAIK the Italian Cultural Center has the lowest prices in town, across from the TRT building in Tarlabasi.... |
