I wasn't really looking for a job in Kuwait or the ME, but oddly enough I ran into a guy in real life who runs a school in Kuwait (which seems like such an odd coincidence that it almost seems like divine providence). Is it expensive to live there? Could I get by "ok" on 800 KD a month (with free housing) or is it very high? The hours seem long, almost 40 hours a week which seems a little unusual (although that's total time at the school and not straight teaching time... teaching time is still around 30 hours per week). I imagine that prices would be inflated in Kuwait, although I certainly don't know as I've never been there. Could I live ok and still save some money there on that?

Yes you can get by ok with 800 dinars a month.
If you know where to look, you will find that most necessities are cheaper compared to, say, Canada. You should be able to save half of your salary with no problem...unless you have a need to buy the latest gadgets, brand name attire...etc.
Fast foods are cheaper too.
Good luck Wink

Definitely getting very expensive. I've lived here a long time and seen it all. The prices are just going sky high.
