I can make a couple comments on your questions. First off, the regular HCT is the academic program... not the CERT program, which is more general English oriented or perhaps ESP.
If you are there in the summer, you may find that most of the places are pretty much closed up. Some have no summer school... and those that have it may have different schedules. The academic faculty and management all leave for 6-8 weeks. But, you might be able to tour the facilities.
As to getting another MA, I would see how much trouble you have getting hired because although your credentials are unusual, they seem to have covered many/most of the bases. The MA program at AUS is very new and we haven't had anyone here yet who went through it and reported.

Kish Island is fairly close but it is a "visa run" destination primarily for people from the Emirates - they fly over and get a new visa to re-enter the UAE for another 3 months or to exchange a tourist visa for a work visa.
I can't comment on the scenery, never been. But I imagine flights are cheap and plentiful for the visa run trade. |

Received an E-mail a from HTC a few weeks ago and they said I made it through their initial screening. Wanted tranascripts and additional information. Got on the web-site today and there was a red stop sign. Present adjunct business professor with five years teaching experience. Anybody else encounter this? Thanks for your help. |

Hey rneedles...
The very same thing happened to me recently. I didn't have my degree yet - as I earned it through distance with a uni in Australia and it was floating around that country getting authenticated and legalized - and after passing screening I got the big stop sign. I think in my case it may have been an issue that I didn't get them my credentials on time. I'm actually calling the office soon to find out if that was the case. Despite my teaching experience, I was shut out last year as my masters wasn't completed...when I called then to find out why, they were pretty quick to tell me that was the reason. I'm hoping they are as willing to answer me this time and my assumption is correct (though, surely, my latest rejection could be for any number of reasons, logical or otherwise!)
Keep us posted, rneedles!

Do you think I should probe a little further? Current MBA working on PhD to be completed by 2009. Would like to know what areas I may be deficient in. I think my credentials (Transcripts) were delivered on time. Can't find full-time work in the states, need to start earning money somewhere.
Thanks Noodles |
