Yes of course, I'm refering to the annual farce aka "Eurovison". For the first time that I can remember the winner had a huge margin of over 135 points to the second placed team. Of all the countries to have achieved such a victory it had to be Norway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I kid you not, of course the song won purely on its artistic merits and there was not political agenda in the voting wotsoever.
So apart from getting "nil pont" a while ago in previous singing contests and having more trees than people, what else is Norway famous for?
Makes you wonder who will do it next year, I think Denmark is in with a good shout!

The song and performance from Norway was nice.. but Hadise was the best as far as music being relevant to today. If I go to a club, or turn on the radio, I would prefer to hear her song, rather than the Norway song. This is just my opinion. Anyway, it seems Eurovision will continue to be a joke and garner much debate.

The UK song was really a joke. The only thing good about that song was Andrew Lloyd Webber playing the piano. Laughing

The place where the contest took place was nice and the stage was great. So I guess everything was not a joke.. hehe

Yes I agree. It was a something and nothing song. Baby face was cute and you had the acrobats in the Norwegian entry. Norway have won it several times of course and don't you think it astounding that Ireland didn't qualify!! They have won it a few years too. Moreover Irishman Ronan Keating writing a song for another country. I liked the Maltese girl with the strong voice but she got hardly any points. Further irony, she previously came second and third at other attempts. I thought our entry was mediocre and more about 'doing time.' In fact I liked Portugals' entry. Very Happy

I've got to agree with Ossie39. I also rated the Maltese singer's efforts. It was a well-sung song, without all the tricks and trampolining.
Unfortunately, without the looks of Hadise, she was never going to win...

I thought it was cool that the Norway guy wrote the song and played the violin well. Of course, the lyrics were just fluff, but I think it was self-conscious fluff; it didn't pretend to be a masterwork.
