so, as i understand it from the posts, once i enter the schengen zone, for whatever reason, i have only 90 days to file for a work visa???
i have been rock climbing for about 6 weeks in the S-zone and was going to czech/poland to look for a TEFL job in august. so, i need to leave the S-zone in about 6 weeks and then come back??
just wanting to clarify this so i can go to croatia for a few days and then come back into the S-zone.

Sounds like a good plan. I spent four months in Croatia once - quite easy to do. Remember you have to stay out for 90 days, though...
Legally, I don't think they will do the math to figure that you didn't use up your 90 when you were here...though you could possibly argue that on the border.. |

Yes. You have 90 days in which to submit your application for visa.
If you submit your application within these 90 days then your application will be pending and you can begin teaching and stay on in the zone.
This is applicable for the Czech Republic.
Some countries are stricter about traveling from Schengen zone to non-schengen zone than others. We have had clients travel willy-nilly between Schengen and non-schengen zones without being questioned at Prague airport.
Always best though to play it by the book because you never know...
The main thing is to get job hunting as soon as you arrive and then get your work visa and work permit put into processing and you can then travel as you please and of course begin teaching.
