Hi all
I've been offered positions in both of these cities, i like the sound of Changhua City (not far from Taichung) but am interesting in hearing what others have to say about them.
Thanks

You've been offered positions? I doubt it. Was it from a recruiter? Then these offered positions are very much depended on what they think of you when you actually show up. But don't fret as I'm sure they will be happy to get any hot blooded body to come.
There isn't anything wrong with either city but both lack the big city benefits of decent clubs and western style amenities. But hey, if that's your thing then go for it. I would prefer Keelung of the two. |

This blog from an American who has spent the past 20 years in the Keelung area may interest you: http://formosaguy.blogspot.com/.
I've emailed him with questions, and he was happy to reply. |

Weird, I've been offered 2 positions from those cities as well. The Shane language school was one of them in Keelung. Are you working with Reach to Teach?? They told me the market is very slow right now, I wasn't planning on going out there till after next January. I researched both and Keelung looks busier. It also has one of the largest seaports in Taiwan next to Kaohsiung. I'm sure if you like more of a city environment then Keelung is good. I hope the market picks up soon, I really want to go out there. Good luck

Hi
Yes it's with Reach To Teach, one is with the Shane School and the other is a private school. I prefer ChangHua City by the sounds of things, seems cheaper. They've told me that too but this time of year is the best time to get a job as the new term times starts in a couple of months.
I'm just looking for somewhere that is safe and has a sizeable expat community.

You should look into it . I'm waiting for something in either Kaoshiung or Taipei. I prefer a bigger city. I am looking to go around Dec/Jan. Good luck! |
