Greetings everyone,
I have just recieved an electronic copy of my Visa for Dubai. However, they have not included my husband and children. Is this just an error or do those accompanying me get a visa on arrival?
Please help as am a little nervous as it is getting closer to my departure.

I would ask HR. It may be that they will enter on a visit visa which will be later changed to residency - however, that would probably require a visa run to Oman or Kish Island.
Has your employer sent everyones' tickets or are you responsible for that? If the latter, get on the phone or email to the HR department and ask how to proceed ASAP |

Who is your employer Integrity? South Africans can no longer come in on Tourist Visas and have them changed to Employment/Residency Visas. You need to phone your employer - don't email - and write down who you spoke to and what advice you were given. Sometimes it is dependent on your nationality. Visas |

Canadians, Brits, US citizens, Australians and New Zealanders are permitted to enter on tourist visas and have them converted to residency visas in-country. But, as I suggested, get onto your employer on the phone, talk to someone, have your questions answered and make a note of who you spoke to. |

ADU is hiring people for a 5 week program, and teachers will be independent contractors working on tourist visas. How much of a problem is this, potentially? Could there be problems getting paid at the contract end? Thanks. |

It is, of course, illegal since you are on tourist visas. But for just a summer session, I wouldn't worry about it. With all the bad press of the early days of ADU, there has never been anyone here complaining that they weren't paid.
So, I think it should be OK. It would give a taste of the city... and you would find out whether you can survive endless days of unrelenting heat and humidity. There is a good reason that most everyone who can gets the heck out of the Gulf for the summer.
