Oh one other thing about document attestations.
They need to be by the current government officials. So for example if we were coming there in the Jan/feb of 2009, but had our documents attested by the US consulate under GWB, they would need to be reattested under Obama.
we have a friend who had that problem from documents in Japan. Between when they were attested and when they arrived, the government changed (all the ministers changed) and they had to have all of their documents reattested. It was more of a headache, but still keep it in mind. |

Thank goodness. My grades in undergraduate studies were nothing to write home about. |

You best check out this detail with your employer. When I had my degree authenticated in a neighboring country, they required ALL degrees. Don't worry about the grades, they are not referring to a transcript here... they are talking about that fancy document that they gave you to hang on the wall with the gold seal.

VS, the latest ruling here is that only the highest degree achieved needs to be fully and legally attested. They're not interested in anything else. |

As for getting degrees or a marriage license attested, in Canada, there is no charge for the service. You may as well get everything done to be on the safe side. The only cost has been the courier to have the documents delivered and shipped back, but if you live by the office in Ottawa you can always drop them off.

In the UK nothing is free!
Certificate copies of marriage and birth certificates are needed as photocopies will not be accepted. |

OK I've been trying to find fees for attesting documents in Canada, but as far as I can tell the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in canada doesn't have a fee for attesting documents. Can anyone confirm?
How about the UAE embassy? I've heard that they require a sealed transcript from your university as well as $50 per document. |

A transcript is required though no need to have it attested. |

You are correct...Department of Foreign affairs is free (and they will even deliver it to the UAE embassy if you send a written request and a cheque+ self-addressed envelope for the UAE embassy to return the docs). UAE charge= $50 per doc.
For people looking to print out their own photos:

(I know it says they are for India, but it is because UAE isn't on the list and it is the only country I saw that wanted 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm.)
