Hi!
I wasn't sure where to put this, as technically I thought Fiji was in Oceania, but the Australia/NZ section seems to be the only thing there...
Anyway, it's probably ambitious but does anyone know whether there's demand for English teachers in Fiji? I haven't been able to find any jobs advertised anywhere. It's a beautiful country, and my boyfriend is also hoping to get work there as a SCUBA diving instructor - is this a futile dream? We already thought about the Caribbean but many islands seem reluctant to give jobs to non-natives, and he's not going to do well as an instructor in many places because he only speaks English.
So, has anyone seen Fiji EFL/ESL jobs, or might it be worth directly contacting schools there or something? Any help would be great!! |

Fiji is an English speaking country and is also a 'developing country', so it probably doesn't have a huge need for English language teachers from outside of the country. |

I was in Fiji last August and I met someone who was volunteeting in the Yasawa group. This might be a lead for you but I think your chances of finding paid work there as an ESL teacher would be near to zero. If you were prepared to volunteer there though I can assure you that it is a wonderful place to go and stay for a while, particularly Kuata. There's a wonderful sense of community there. |

Most of the Fijians I have ever spoken to have spoken the language fine. Why would they need English teachers? |
