I am somewhat more calm than I was before. I am well aware of the lack of customer service here, esp. with Telmex. In fact, that is a good part of the reason I never got landline phone service.
But I was told by a number of people Sky was different as they cater in part to foreigners. They have English speaking people on the phone etc. After another try on the phone, talking to the supervisor (as my Mexican co-workers suggested) I did get someone out here. It is working again but I know not optimally. I decided not to push my luck.
People get frustrated at times. I did and I needed advice on how to play the game. I felt I got patronized and/or talked down to by some here. |

I don't think anyone treated you too harshly...remember, we're all in same bote called 'Mexico'. Every bit of frustration you feel we've felt too, those of us with some time here...
It's almost comical the way things work here...when you reach that stage where you just laugh at it all, learn to shrug in Spanish, and forget about waiting anxiously for things to happen, you can call this place home.

yeah i know man i been there (mexico Df/oaxaca/zipolite/san cristobal de las casa & puerto escondido). i guess it just depends where in aussie you grew up. i'm refering to these things and paraphrasing from other threads i've read in here;
1."mexicans in general think cheating and petty theft is ok and dont believe in telling on their friends" = most my friends in australia
2."companies in mexico believe they are doing you a favour providing a service instead of customer always being right" = just about every company in brisbane except american chain stores
3. "everything is manana in mexico" = lazy aussie attitude of 'she'll be right mate'
i'm sure theres more but i cant think of em now. but yeah moving to mexico will be different from brisvegas for sure! lol. |
