Most of the time in job ads for other countries the employers will mention the salary. Not so for the ads that I have seen for Indonesia.
I always see "competitive salary".
So, what is a competitive salary ? How much ? |

Less than the going rate. It's an utterly meaningless term to describe a salary.
Read " Salary's so low, we are not going to mention it so that at least we get a few responses to our ad"

'Competitive salary' means that they are competing with other schools to pay the bare minimum.
Salaries are so-o-o varied in this country, even for what look like (and probably are) comparable jobs.
Others may beg to differ, but I say that nobody anywhere in Indonesia should be taking less than 10mill per month for entry level jobs. Don't be swayed by the 'benefits package' which usually consists of things that are really cheap to provide anyway, though a PROPER health insurance policy is well worth having.
For K12 schools the average for someone qualified and with some experience seems to be between 15-20mill.
The most transparent salary scale is that of the British International School, which I believe to be the best school in Indonesia, and this is posted each year on the school website for all to see. |

Competitive in a job ad means nothing, as has been said.
What competitive means is entirely dependent on where the job is and what you'll be expected to do. What you get paid in Jakarta will vary wildly from what you'll get in, say, Maumere, Flores.
If you can specify location and job, we can try to approximate.
