A lot of people benefit a lot from working with Apollo and there are advantages and disadvantages with working with them. Some people will be critical of the place whilst others will support it. Make your own decision and maybe see you soon in Hanoi (If that's where you're going to be based)

So I sent a few questions to the recruiter of this school. I was 'assured' that a salary of $1485 per month was fantastic (well they would wouldn't they?)

However, in the same email, one that asks me to complete a phone interview, I have now been quoted $1355 per month, not the $1485 in the first email. Oh and they got the hours wrong too, apparently it should be 260 hours per quarter and not the 240 initially stated in the first email.

What gives? Should I just roll my eyes and put my 'When in Asia' head on, or should I be looking elsewhere?? Like I said, not an awful lot of advertising going on 'out of country' at the moment.

My instinct is to sack it, but then......when in Asia..

What do people think? Again, many thanks for some good, honest feedback.

RULE NUMBER ONE IN VIETNAM....always trust your instincts!!

RULE NUMBER TWO......don't blag online about the offer your school is offering you. for sure, someone in the office will be trying to identify who you are.
the fact that u have been misquoted on hours and prices, may be a ruse to find out who you are? which leads me on to .....

RULE NUMBER THREE.......be cautious, even paronoid and that will get u back onto rule #1



it's true that many people less qualified than u are getting paid more, me included.
all the schools are much of a muchness. you move thinking the grass is greener, but more often than not, it's the same of the sameness, and u just gotta keep urself sane, otherwise, u find urself going insane and end up working at the Shane school of English where all the lunitics work.

junan -- best to book a flight and head over with a few thou. There's always a job here, especially if you are qualified.

You have a PGCE apply for the international schools - BIS, RISS, ABC etc , i know people working here with only a year or 2 experience on $2600. Lots of people leaving this year too...

I only have a TESOL 8 mths experience and with working 15hrs a week teaching preschool+guaranteed privates get approx $2000 a month now.

Living is cheap here, we go out every night for dinner or get a takeaway, its cheaper than cooking - approx �6 for dinner delivered for 2. One or 2 nights out a week drinking and spend less than �30 between us.

The costs are rising but for those from the UK its still pretty cheap here. I have been away every other weekend for the last 2 months to beach resorts, each trip costing less than $50 travel and accomodation.

Book a flight theres plenty of work here.
