Anyone know any good record stores in DF? Where you can find used cds, vinyl, etc? Ive been teaching in Chiapas for the past year and there is a notable lack of places to buy good non-bootleg music down here... |

I would be pleased to be proved wrong, but I suspect that the market niche you're asking about is killed off by all the pirated CDs you can buy for 5 or 10 pesos on the street and on public transportation. To the best of my knowledge, the choice is between expensive new CDs and cheap pirate copies.
On the other hand, maybe there is some street downtown devoted to stores selling old vinyl. There seems to be some store somewhere selling almost anything you can think of. Anyone? |

Actually there are quite a few street vendors about town who are selling old LPs. If you head over to museo de Belles Artes on Juarez St. backtrack back to the torre caballito on paseo de reforma and there is the major street that crosses Juarez by the park. there are at least three LP vendors at that corner.
Also there are some vendors by the metro Balderas. Between the station entrance and the entrance to the Centro de Imagen Visuales there are a number of vendors who sell art film CD pirates, some of which have LPs.
I've seen other vendors but can't recall where they were. |

and by the way, you can not find cds for 5 pesos anymore and the clones at 10 pesos are mostly garbage, both in the quality of the film itself and its reproduction. Stay away from clones, you're taking too big a chance. Most better pirates go for 20 pesos and up to 60 pesos for hard to come by artfilms. |
