Hi All
Has anyone out there had any experience of clic IH Seville? I'm considering doing my DELTA there, largely due to timing. I've had past experience of IH Barcelona and found it to be an unpleasant, money grubbing and sub-standard set up. That, I hasten to add was for their Spanish language courses and nothing to do with teacher training.
All input gratefully received. Cheers. |

Oooops, sorry! Meant to say "up-to-date info", the last post for this is four years old. |

Actually, I've had experience of learning Spanish at both places (quite some time ago, admittedly) and would have to disagree with the opinion of Spanish at IH BCN (also from the opinions of friends I've recommended to go there since).
Both centres seemed pretty good to me, though as you say things could vary from one Department to another.
Can't tell you anything about DELTA at Clic but I'd say it would be a good place to take it. Lovely city! |

If M.C. is still heading up their very jacked teacher training centre, then you can't go wrong. They have a very good reputation, an excellent pass rate and - as you will no doubt find out if you end up going there - they have produced multiple DELTA-prize winners. The DELTA-prize is awarded annually to the best-performing candidate from all over the world! Quite an achievement if you consider the notorious difficulty and intensity of the course.
I did mine there. I can only recommend it. |

Thanks, guys! Seville is starting to look like a very cool option. Pikgitina, what were your employment prospects like after doing the course? Did you get much help with job openings?
IH BCN, well, perhaps it was something to do with the organisation of the intakes that year, but five of us (to my knowledge) left and went elsewhere. I found a brilliant alternative for Spanish, but the CELTA trainees at that place were less than impressed. I guess there's just an element of hit-and-miss to it all. |

I'd suggest that all courses are a bit hit-and-miss, even in the world's best centre. So much depends on (a) how well you happen to like personally your tutor/s (who may be the best or the worst) and (b) who you land in your group and how well you get on with them...
If you do pick Seville, but then happen to be disappointed by it, were those factors? |

Nopes, the teachers were cool and I think most students got along pretty well.
It was more a case of overly large mixed ability groups, despite an initial level check, and a generally one-size-fits-all approach. Of the five that left, two of us had studied Spanish at university and a third had just spent a year in Ecuador as part of her degree course. I suppose our expectations were pretty high and we were disappointed.
The next place was super though.
I'm defo hoping that Seville will go well. Feedback has been positive so far. |
