Goodness... that is quite the soap opera. Be sure to post any updates so we find out if he succeeds in getting his things out of the country.

A soap opera perhaps, but very typical of the UAE and its 'laws'.

I wouldn't quite say typical... or perhaps I should say that it is uncommon. (ilhamdulillah)

Over the years I have known a handful of teachers who had run-ins with the law there, and it wasn't quite this byzantine. In the cases that I know of, the employers were very helpful, but what do you do when the problem is the employer? Shocked Just another reason to be very careful who you accept a job with...

On thing I know about this place is that GHQ have not self-respect for themselves...AND IT SHOWS! Best, sometimes, to cut your losses and revel in the fact that you're much better as a single individual than an entire organisation! They can keep their lousy EOS!

Latest.....................court hearing 8th June, final decision will be made by Judge on 15th June as to whether Marty can remove his goods from apartment. Owner was again present in court and supporting Marty. Auction has been stopped - just a matter now of proving ownership of goods. Next case is the criminal one to quash the 6 month prison sentence 'in absentia'. All a costly business. 1,500 AED last week for court expenses, 6,000 AED today for fees to stop auction etc and approx 50,000 AED to begin criminal case.

Be careful - MENA Business Services have renewed their contract with Abu Dhabi Emiritisation Council (ADEC) and will be advertising soon for

English Instructors
ICDL Trainers
Customer Service Trainers
Business & Administration Trainers

They've not paid staff for up to 5 months, paid off a lot of staff and cancelled their visas so they must leave the country.

Be very careful - this company are a sham and treat their staff appallingly.

They tend to advertise on this site, BAYT, Jobsindubai, SOS Recruitment

Re above post

I think it should be Abu Dhabi Education Council.

No sorry it is definitely ABU DHABI EMIRITISATION COUNCIL (ADEC). In conjucntion with MENA Business Services, they run the Emiritisation programme for nationals to do the subjects listed above.

Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) is something entirely different and is the PPP.

I understand that both organizations are in Sharia Court fighting over who has "ownership" over the acronym... Laughing
