I'm in the process of getting an MA in TESOL. I don' have teaching experience but I do substitute teach in my local school district. My question is will I need to get some kind of other certificate like DELTA or something later on down the road? or am I ok with just the MA TESOL? Question
The certificates (CELTA, Trinity, SIT, the generics) are entry-level certifications for teaching adults. Many MATESOL programs are geared toward teaching children in the government indoctrination centers (public schools).

My program is geared for adults so I probably don't need a certificate, right?

You are correct. You do not need a certificate--your MA TESOL is more than enough for most jobs. When I got my MA TESOL, I also had the opportunity to teach real students and be mentored at the university--do you get that opportunity?

Mine sure wasn't!

In terms of paper qualifications, no, you should not have to go back and get another certificate. Your lack of teaching experience might hurt you, though.

I got a TEFL Diploma but it's nothing compared to an MA. I am nearly finished my MA in TESOL and I am sorry that I didn't start it earlier instead of doing the TEFL Diploma. Well at least it gave me a taste for teaching.
