Does anyone know what the current restrictions/guidelines are for Russian Visas?
My new employer has said that when I get my visa, I should request a single-entry visa, but doesn't this mean that I won't be able to travel outside of Russia while I'm there? I'd like to see Russia of course, but if I wanted to visit another European city and then tried to come back after a short vacation, would I be unable to get back into Russia since I don't have a multiple-entry visa?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, the first three-month visa is a single entry one, and yes, you can't go out in that time without going back to the start of the whole process. When you renew, within Russia, you then get a nice juicy multiple entry visa for the year.

"I'd like to see Russia of course." This visa business, for the employer, isn't a joke and it isn't a holiday proposal. So, you do your three months, earn some money, and take your foreign holiday later. Apart from anything else, I think that you are not entitled to paid holiday under Russian law until six months have elapsed; although the accumulation of potential leave starts on day one.
