Does anyone have any experience with IH Bangkok (International House)? I would be interested to hear about anything you have to say about them...
Thanks! |

IH in Bangkok was good when I took it. IMO, the most important aspect of a course is the actual trainers and they had 2 really great and different trainers with lots of hands on experience teaching and training. This provided our class with 2 very different styles of presenting material. Barry and Matt were their names.
Complaints I would have is that the rooms and computer/work space are very small and cramped. With 15 students in the room, there is not much space for anything else. The computer/printer/copier was a real pain in the ass, slow and had many problems, so just dont leave any computer stuff to the last minute. Also, I dont think they had A/C in the rooms.
Overall the important things were done well 95% of the time. A bit of disorganization, but its Thailand so if you get only a bit of disorganization, count yourself lucky.
Great location (happy hour at the Irish pub after a long day was nice) in central Bangkok. However due to the very central location of the office, be prepared to spend at least 10,000 baht on accommodations if you want to live without 30 minutes (which I suggest). Probably 10-15,000 is a better estimate to get a comfortable place for the month although some people are able to be comfortable in places where others couldn't stand, so its all relative. As it is right near the BTS and MRT stations, you could find a place further out (which usually means cheaper) but near the BTS (skytrain) or MRT (subway) line and take the BTS everyday. |

Sorry, I guess it's my fault for not being specific enough with my question - has anyone worked for IH Bangkok - i've seen job openings there, and I was wondering if anyone has experience working there, and how it shapes up against the cost of living in Bangkok, and things like that.
Thanks! |
