Hi all,

Have just been offered a position in a public school in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Al Gharbia. Does anyone have any information on what public schools are like in these places and also what holidays they take, especially around Christmas time? The position has been offered through Bereston Education - anyone know anything about them - any info would be great! Question

AnitaM - I hope that isn't actually your name!!!!! Public schools vary enormously. Try to find the threads on these forums where they've been discussed to death in the last two months. Sounds to me like you were employed by ADEC through a recruiter. Is that the case?

Unless it is a British or American (or other Western curriculum school) it is unlikely you'll get a Christmas vacation per se. Most of the other schools are governed by the MoEs calendar which does not recognize Christmas as a holiday - HCT for example, you work Christmas day (but you do get New Year's day off!)

Yes, Bereston Education are a recruitment company and i would be working for ADEC.

That means you wont get school fees assistance if you have kids. If you dont then the salary is great. look forward and enjoy the challenges up ahead.
