Hey, all. I'm a Nova refugee who fled to Korea after the collapse of the company and now I'm looking for a way back to Japan. I've been looking at Westgate since everybody else only recruits either from within Japan or from your country of origin. (If anybody knows of another way to get back to Japan I've noticed that Westgate has started allowing teachers to renew their contracts from Korea, by all means let me know.) I've noticed that Westgate has started letting teachers renew their contracts and I was wondering if anyone has done this and, if so, how likely it is that they will keep you if you want to stay. Really, my plan is to take a short-term job with Westgate and immediately start looking for a full-year contract with someone else, but I want to know that if I have any problems finding another job, I can renew with Westgate as a safety net. So, has anyone renewed their contract with Westgate? Is it hard? It just seems to me that, if they weren't letting people renew before, that they might limit the number of people they allow to do it now. Anything anybody knows about it (or another school I can join from Korea) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smile

I too fled to Korea after the old Nova died. It didn't didn't take me long to realise that I wanted out of Korea and back to Japan asap. Remarkably, I stayed for the full year of my contract (the money only just outweighed the remarkable displays of ignorance, rudeness, discrimination and unreasonable thinking I encountered there) before coming back to Japan.
I had no problems arranging phone interviews for jobs in Japan while I was in Korea (I had most of them between October-December last year), and I got a job offer from most of them. I ended up taking a job with Altia, who interviewed me in person in Seoul. Other companies I remember interviewing me were Borderlink (their pay was awful, and said that I would not receive ANY money during school holidays), and ALS, who seemed quite reasonable. I can't remember the names of the other schools/companies, but there are lots of openings for jobs if you look around for them.

Where exactly did you find these jobs? Can you recommend any sites?
