Antoniahk, for what it's worth, I have a friend who attended a local primary school for a few years - back in the 70's - who turned out pretty well. Did go to an international school after that because the system was a bit tough on non-Chinese at that time. He speaks perfect Canto though! And he's now a pretty successful musician. Make no mistake though, it's not going to be easy. In kindergarten the racial differences don't seem to mean much, but kids do often get mean when they get older, so it's something to consider. But if they have a supportive, encouraging home, then those things tend to take care of themselves. Good luck!

Not a hissy fit. Just find it boring reading people generalizing massively about local schools.

Of course if you didn't make massive generalisations yourself, you wouldn't come across so much as having a holier than thou attitude.

I take the bus there every day and have the misfortune of sharing my ride with kids from possibly the priciest of the international schools and am obliged to listen to their conversations - I would be horrified if my children turned out like this.

I went to a public school, but don't feel the need to make these kinds of generalisations about international school students. I have taught at an elite international school in Beijing, and found the kids to be mostly great.
