When I previously got a Z visa in 2007 I was not required to have an ECG or x-ray. My doctor simply wrote that it wasn't necessary, since I am in good health. This year though.... things are different....

My insurance won't cover that expensive unnecessary test, so my employer said I could go to China, do the tests there and go to Hong Kong to get my Z visa.

But I have heard some mixed things about this topic.

Has anyone recently gone to HK to get their visa?

you mean you got it in the states before going? or mainland china?

i'm going to get the ECG and x-ray done on the mainland and then go to HK.

thanks for letting me know that you recently got yours in HK without a problem though! appreciate it!

I also have gotten a visa in HK after getting my medical check-up in Guilin. It's pretty straight forward in HK and not difficult at all. I almost died when my Canadian friend paid 250HKD for his z-visa and I paid over 1,000HKD because i'm American.

I was on the phone with a couple of visa companies this morning. pandavisa.com is saying that the consulates now require original medical forms to be submitted with the work documents.

Anyone else experiencing this?

really?? you should only have to send your original medical docs to your employer in china... and then that province will issue you a work permit. then your school needs you all the necessary papers and then you send them and your passport to the nearest consulate.

i talked to the consulate in chicago about this the other day.... and they are still doing things like this.

but the consulate in hong kong... they told me that i would have to bring my medical records with me.

so i guess it just depends on the consulate?

Could anyone provide the name and address of the hospital in Hong Kong that can issue the medical examination report and blood test record that is recognised by mainland education bureaux/labour bureaux etc.?

The Adventist Hospital

Tsuen Wan & Hong Kong Island

offer china vist packages (basic & Shanghai) health assessment services

http://www.hkah.org.hk/

The prices charged by both hospitals differ, also the basic & Shanghai prices differ too. Tsuen Wan is cheaper, basic visa package is cheaper too.

China Embassy in HK must issue a letter of verification of the hospital's medical reports & blood tests for them to be acceptable on the mainland.
