First of all, whoever posted that Jubail doesn't smell as though a massive petrochemical accident took place obviously doesn't live in Jubail.
I lived in Jubail for six years and never noticed it, as did and do vast numbers of expat residents.

Plenty of people with young families (and compliant spouses!) genuinely like Jubail.

To be fair, there is a rather sizable petrochemical plant a bit over yonder, which may account for my biased opinion about Jubail's smell. As I said, some days there is no smell. Regardless of the quality of air, you will experience the harsh chemical odor of Jubail when you go shopping here. Once those chemicals get onto people's clothes, the reek is strong and carries. Anyone who has waited in line at Panda near such an employee knows what I mean.
