Following on from Sara's story on the exotic partners thread, let's have some horrible date stories. (yes, I've got nothing to do today)
I was once seeing this guy for a few months and we met up for a drink after work. He chose this point to tell me that he'd in fact been having an affair with his best friend's fiancee all along and using me as a sort of smokescreen. He then said that it didn't mean we'd have to split up and that he'd like to keep seeing me as long as I didn't say anything to his friend. Needless to say I got up and walked out.
This was a few years ago and it's quite funny now, but at the time I was rather upset.
So come on tell us some stories of bad things you've done or that have been done to you...

My first month in Japan, I was surfing the net and stumbled across and website for people in Japan wishing to exchange language. Being rather gung-ho at that moment to learn Japanese, I answered a few ads. One was advertised as a uni-educated, well-read architect who had traveled extensively abroad. We met for coffee...he was a middle-aged Japanese business man with horrid teeth and breath (BIG pet peeves of mine - shallow, maybe....)

Not wanting to be rude, I stayed for coffe with him and talked. I had instructed my flatmate at the time to message me after an hour, should I need an excuse to get away. She did and I did. After that, he asked me if he could be honest with me...he was married with 2 teenage sons and was looking for a western g/f. I said that our ideas of language exchange were COMPLETELY different and that no, I was not interested in any language exchange that required me to be naked. He then asked if it was ok with we went to a love hotel.

I bolted from the restaurant, after which he proceeded to call me on my keitai all night long, until I convinced one of my male friends to answer the phone.

I invited my boyfriend and our mutual friends to our christmas party last year. He decided that was the perfect time to break up with me.

'Here, have some punch'
'Thanks! By the way, we can't see each other anymore. I just cant see it working out. You arent muslim or Turkish and my family is giving me a hard time about you. We can still be friends though, right?'
'Ah. Oh. Ok.' (trying to retain dignity as world crumbles beneath feet.)

ironically dmb, I was just thinking the same thing...

maybe it is because we recall our lousy dates more clearly...perhaps for (some) men, a bad date is one where they do not get laid at the end of it and then chalk it up to her being frigid, fat, ugly, lazy...whatever excuse they can make up.

Good question Abi. Also, why do you have nothing to share? Either you are happily married or have dated only lovely sweet women. I seem to have extraordinarily bad luck with men, esp here in Turkiye where we are apparently just the practice run for real relationships with virginal Turkish women culminating in the culturally ordained marriage.

In college I dated a rough-and-tumble character that was absolutely gorgeous but...

He brought me to his aunt's home to meet his family. He and his uncle decided to get something for dinner. They came home with a deer they'd shot. Dragged it in to the kitchen and began slicing it up. (It was not the season, either). His family sat around like poaching was normal and that deer blood is easily mopped up.

It was freaky and good looks or no, I wasn't going to stay around.

Where to start?.. (Laugh!)

I first met my date while walking down the street with my girlfriends. One of the girls knew him and introduced us. At the time, I thought he HAD a girlfriend because we got into a discussion about kinky bedroom antics.. (The confusion was my fault.. he said he and his girlfriend would enjoy a little mayhem.. I took it to mean that they DO enjoy it. The discussion was me simply saying over and over "heck, whatever rocks your boat is fine.. so long as you both enjoy it.")

I should have thought it over more carefully when I found out he didn't really have a girlfriend and he wanted to go out. But it seemed harmless enough.. aside from the conversation he was such a laid back kind of person and we'd had a great evening. We went to the park to play some football (soccer) but while taking a break on the lawn (watching kids flying kites) he suddenly took off his shirt to show me his nipple rings then went into gross detail about what he'd love for me to do to them. .... I was so sorely tempted to rip them off. .. but I settled for punching him in the kisser and breaking his lip when he tried a "tackle".

Ironically, .. it brought a smile to his bleeding lips. He liked non-white girls with spunk. After the date he continued to call me night after night around 1am asking me to come over.. It took a month to get him off my back. It's hard shaking a guy who loves abuse, especially when you live in a small area and almost always run into them at some point.

Thanks for posting the above. I liked the deer story, and the one with the nipple rings. Personally, I will have nothing to do with pierced people from now on--- they are just too wacky. My g/f had 18 piercings. Leave it to your imagination.

This wont win on the strangeness score, but I had a blind date with an Icelandic woman a while back. We got along pretty well, but she wasn't interested in taking it any farther -- she didn't fancy my career prospects in ESL.

That was a lesson.
