I just offered a job in Danang and was previously looking to work elsewhere and don't know anything about the place. Info? Opinions? Thanks. |

Go for it. Cheaper than Saigon, really booming at the moment, not too many expats, great beach, Hoi An just down the road, & HCMC only a 1-hr flight away. If HCMC continues to develop at the current rate I might move there myself. |

Danang is quiet, clean and livable. The ex-pat community is growing and the schools up there are are building, UQ is there, ILA and Apollo are there and there are even a few smaller schools.
The place has a great vibe, a couple of smaller clubs, quiet bars and some good breweries, a lot of fun to be had with locals who are yet to be confronted with the white wave. |

My husband and I really are coming to live in Danang for 6 months.
I've looked at all the hotels on-line and obviously not being in the economic group who can afford to stay in the Furama Resort, I'm wondering if someone has a suggestion for a hotel when we arrive and contact info for longer term rentals in or near Danang/China Beach/etc.
Thanks - we'll be there mid-January , 2010.

I was in Danang around Dec. 2008 and it was my first time visiting that city. I went with my bf. I really liked the city. It's more laid back than the major city and we were really close to the river. We stayed at the Green Bamboo (Riverside) hotel (we even had a patio that overlooks the river). Breakfast was included with our stay (but don't expect much for free food).
Here's a link to the hotel:

Dear Friends:
Thanks for the info - I had read good and bad about that hotel so kept looking. We do need something inexpensive and some place that we could potentially rent for several months at least. I think there are new places being built all the time in Danang. I hope it maintains it's less intense atmosphere. Thanks again.
