Hi guys,
I'm weighing up applying for a job with RMIT.
I would like to bring my wife to Vietnam with me.
Do you think on the RMIT salary we could survive?
What is the average cost of rent in Hanoi?
Thank you |

Are you degreed?
Do you have ESL Experience in Asia?
To answer your question, all reports are that RMIT pays fairly well and two people should be able to live well on that salary. |

I got an aknowledgment email for my application package at RMIT. I know its a long way from either an interview or an actual offer, but I noticed they don't mention salary.
Any ideas for what the starting salary might be with a BA/CELTA and 7 years of Uni experience in Korea?
Are they currently hiring for HCM or Hanoi?
What are the monthly costs for 2 to live in either city, inlcuding tax deductions and housing (for 2)? Thanks. |

Any further developments? I got the acknowledgement a couple of days ago. It looks like a class organization from their website. I've got to think that they pay at least $1500. |

They have changed the way in which they recruit. Salaries will be sure to drop or show no gain, as they will have many more to come and fill the shoes of anyone who doesn't get in line with their program. I would not be so concerned about the salary, but rather, the way in which the program needs will reflect their hiring policies. If you are going to RMIT, be sure to bring a shovel. |

A lot of innuendo here but not one direct comment. Are you trying to say you have worked for them and didn't care for their management practices? |

This is an older post, I'm too lazy to do it all again

I haven't worked there in a year or more but it was 24 USD per hour. There are a number of other benefits depending on which section you work in, I worked the corporate accounts were benefits were minimum.
Most teachers that worked there really liked it but did complain about their requirements as they couldn't stack other jobs.
RMIT is probably one of the most honorable employers in HCMC but they want to be exclusive and that IS the legal side of things here. |

Any recent information on RMIT?
Did any of the posters above receive offers and take positions with RMIT? |

I have heard a few numbers from senior teachers in RMIT that are very high. As a little CELTA grad with 5 months experience I don't have a hope in hell but it's something to aspire to...
Good luck to all those that get email aknowledgements. I doubt I'd get that yet... |

Nothing beyond the acknowledgement of receipt of documents. It seems I am not one of those selected for further consideration. I have a double BA in Linguistics and English, a TESOL from university graduate school of education and nine years experience in two countries. I guess these qualifications are null and void when you are 57 years old. |

I seriously doubt that age is much of a factor at RMIT, perhaps if you're 80 years old. The Language Dept. is only one of the many things they teach perhaps that Dept. is full right now but they'll probably keep your CV on file in case of later openings.
The age thing is more of an issue at the Language Mills here. |

RMIT look the business and profess to pay nearly $5000 (gross).
are there "better" universities in hcmc/ vietnam?
i have worked at thai universities and uk universities and would like to come to vietnam to work at a half-decent school, to save some bucks, and naturally to see and enjoy vietnam. |

The salaries for professors to teach business, IT, etc. are high, but the salaries for EFL teachers are nowhere near that. |
