I need to get my furniture from mexico up to the US. its all a year old and it just seems like it would be a huge waste to sell it and buy new furniture.

I've never heard of a moving company that handles cross-border moves, but I'd be interested to hear if there are any.
It seems to me the easiest way would be to just fly up to the USA and get set up with your new job, apartment/house, etc. Leave the items with a trusted friend in Mexico.
Once you're settled in and have a place to live, etc. buy a cheap old cargo van, and drive down to get your valuable items and load them in the van. When you reach the border on the way back, I don't think you'll have too much hassle bringing used furniture into the US. |

ls650, one can find cross-border movers by looking for companies that do moves for diplomatic staff. They are reposted from country to country every few years, and they get their household moved each time. When we did our move to Mexico it was not hard at all to find one because we were located in the national capital and lots of companies had in their yellow pages ad that they did diplomatic moves. The movers advised us on the paperwork and legalities, too. So the way to find one would be to look or ask in the nearest city with a consulate (Monterrey, I think in Mikey's case). But it wouldn't be as cheap as a self move, for sure. |
