Not all, but a notable percentage of my (adult) female Korean and Japanese students behave like 5 year-olds. They speak in high-pitched voices and behave in a deferential and dependent way. (I am told that in London it is toned down, and that in Japan it is "belly more"). Why? Presumably because that's what the guys like. This is a conclusion I've seen reached on this board before, in fact.
In Japan, as I understand it, there is a concerning obsession with schoolgirls. I've only seen one Japanese porn movie, and was sufficiently traumatised to not want to watch any others (Alas, I don't have a schoolgirl rape fetish - naively I hadn't thought there was even a market for it). But here we are with the focus on East Asian guys - plenty of western men like the cutesy girls too. (And let's not forget the debut Britney Spears video...) Perhaps the fortune that is spent on pink phones and "Hello Kitty!" pencil cases is, indeed, money well spent. Though many deplore it - there is a definite preference among many men for girls who behave like children.
I wonder why some guys like girls who behave cutesy and childlike? An independent western woman would probably argue that men such as these have a kind of inferiority complex. Low self-esteem maybe. Perhaps they are scared of women, maybe the stereotypical western woman is too "threatening"?..
Hmm. Interesting.
I'm not saying "Japan is full of kiddy-molesters", or even "People who go for cutesy girls are pedophiles deep down". But could there be some link here? Seems like a strange coincidence to me. |

I don't think that Japan and Korea are unique in their celebration of the schoolgirl image. In the west there are plenty of schoolgirl and cheerleader fetishists. I think the difference is that mature western women don't feel as much a need to play at living the image. (That said, I will take my Kitty-chan AKA Hello Kitty pencil case and head back to the Japan forum. I have an excuse, I am an elementary school teacher! I use it to relate to the kids!) |

I seem to remember somewhere along my psychology curriculum that it was determined that men's no. 1 quality for sex appeal, in women, was a high-pitched voice, or baby-talk. Note that these psych tests are notoriously biased towards Western populations samples.
Not judging, just the facts. Evolutionarily speaking, youth in females is an indicator of reproductive viability; whereas in men a quality sought after by females, is evidence of security--money or strength or faithfulness.
Another quality you never think about, but is so important, is height. It has a lot more influence on us than we consciously realize!
What we see in behavior today has been shaped by millions of years of evolution.... |

I don't know if it's "shallow" neccessarily to like certain members of the opposite sex (or of the same sex,if you prefer) because of their physical features. However, to place this above all else is obviously attractive.
What I question is the need for yet another thread on "Why Western men like Asian girls". haven't we been through this old chestnut ad nauseum? |

I think the cutesey thing follows most of Asia. I mean, 12 yo lads in the UK and Spain have Smoked at least once, listen to Limp Bisket, maybe some mild drugs. tossed off in front of friends (or even more) and probably stole something now and again. 12 yo's in China are little extremely feminine which cuddle and kiss each other all the time, think girls have 'cooties' and the like, but they grow up from these adorable cute little boys and girl who you wanna cuddle and cherish and take them all home with ya to these evil young girl raping, smoking, demising, corrupt communists. How the feck do they transform so quickly?

Cutesiness (is that actually a word?) is definitely over valued IMNO, but there is something to be said for that whole school girl image. I don't think it is a perversion as much as it is about remembering your own teenage years.
As we grow older, most of our dreams are forgotten or changed but there is that one dream about the girl you fancied in while going through puberty that just sticks with you.
so just a bit of a crowbar separation between the two things..OK? |

OK, I will buy that, but what about the pigtails fetish so many men have? Most females don't wear pigtails once they've reached puberty or beyond unless they are trying to do the "cutesy" thing to attract men. It is primarily a little girl's hairstyle. So what's the deal? |

Actually, I do know quite a few european girls that are not so "cutesy" and enjoy having pigtails.... for some reason, swiss chocolate commercials come to my mind
But then again, what do I know ? I have always been partial to redheads |

Hiyas,
I usually just lurk around here, but I have to ask about something that I've wondered about for years...
I'm 5'2" and kind of petite. Not what you'd call tiny, but I'm no giant either. Lots of people think I look like an intellectual (whatever that means!! ), and I'm basically not afraid to live my life as I see is best for me, and not afraid to say so. To paraphrase someone else on a different post, I'm not an overweight, aggressive Western woman, but you know, I'm not weak either. I generally have at least a smile on my face, if I'm not laughing my head off, and look young for my 34 years.
So, will someone please please puhleeeze tell me why every single man I have ever been out with wants to pick me up and carry me around all the time like I'm some kind of cute toy????????
Have a great day!
Lozwich. |

Dear Lozwich,
Good question. Maybe it's ego, a feeling of masculinity, a sense or strength and power, or maybe you're just soo cute! |
