Maybe there aren't so many Canuckians in the world after all. I've come across quite a few US citizens who tell people they are Canadian (when abroad) because they believe that they will get a warmer reception that way.

Also, Canadians on the whole have done a lot less upseting of others in the world than most people in recent years and thus visas are relatively easy to come by.

I'm a Brit myself, with a German mother.

I am one of those who is kinda annoyed (I wouldn't say offended) when referred to as an American. I have to agree that not much is known about Canada (Da Shan, Norman Bethune, people are friendly, that's about it) One of my collegues was pretty disappointed when I told her that we *had* participated in WWI.

What I'm kinda concerned about is this new wave of Molson-inspired "nationalism" where Canadians walk around with big flags on their backpacks announcing "I am Canadian, check out how un-American I am." This kind of behaviour is, well, as American as it gets. There's nothing wrong about being proud of your country, don't get me wrong, but there's no need to parade around boasting about it at any given opportunity.[/quote]
