I noticed that on my course, too--whatever the instructors told you to do, you had to do it. End of discussion. I think that's why it can be harder for experienced teachers--they're used to being able to think freely, improvise if needed, etc. I can see some benefit to the "do exactly as your instructors do" model for newbies--with zero classroom experience, they need a starting point. And a standardized starting point simply makes it easier to assess whether or not they've "learned" what they've been taught. It is a bit unrealistic compared to a real classroom setting, which in my opinion is far more relaxed than a training session simply because it's less controlled. In your own classroom, you don't need to stick strictly to every little bullet point in your lesson plan if you see a good reason to vary it.
Anyway... EvilTwin, I'm sorry you're stuck in this situation. It really does sound like you're taking your progress and future as a teacher seriously, and I always like to see people like you succeed, to provide a balance against all of the teachers out there who don't take it seriously and just trash the profession.
