5) The King Fahad Naval Academy in Jubail and the Navy School in Jubail are better than TINS in Dammam.

No. King Fahad Naval Academy teachers who are employed by Booz Allen Hamilton get good pay and conditions. There is no navy school in Jubail but there are BAE, BVT, SDT and STA teachers as well as direct hires.

Marquess, ure saying there is no "Navy School," in Jubail...... but, read what you have written a few pages back!

"King Fahad Naval Academy which has Booz Allen Hamilton TEFLers as well as Brits who work direct hire for the navy.

Naval Forces School-has some BAE, SDT, BVT, STA as well as non westerner direct hires. "
MARQUESS

So there is no "Navy School,"- but there is a "Naval Forces School."

Marquess, rather than saying- "There's no Navy School," wouldn't it have been better to ask me simply to write FORCES- in the middle of Navy School?
We now have, tra laaaah-
1) King Fahad Naval Academy Jubail
2) The Naval Forces School

To be even more pedantic it is actually:

Naval Forces Schools as there is an English Language School, Supply School, Navigation School etc.

"At KFUPM you are surrounded by Bulgarian English Teachers - digging in for a last ditch stand - against the final assault by Omani Mercenaries . . ."

I was uh . . . trying to be funny [and evidently failing miserably . . .]

Um, the context was as follows:

Everybody here knows that Scot and a certain gentleman in Oman - who may have engaged in certain "activities" with respect to the Omani Royal Family - Scot and this Gentleman, shall we say, have professed a certain . . . well . . . "dislike" for one another . . .

And the two gentleman in question have long been at loggerheads over BAE.

And that was the context of the attempted joke, Ladies and Gentlemen . . . Rolling Eyes

Great topic, and here's my contribution. Been applying for the KSU/Bell/Obekan job for the third year in a row. I got it 3 times, and I'm gonna reject it for the 3rd time again. The reason? The basic salary has dropped from 12000 to 9000 (!!!), and they only offer a 11 month contract (???). So, if you do the maths, your basic monthly salary over 12 months is 9000*11=99000/12=8250 (!!!) oooooooooooooppppsssssss hardly more than two thirds of the original 12000 (that they offered for 12 months for the first year of the project, so no need for maths) and they are now way down the list, somewhere around the nasty, mean and dirty 25th place!!! Also, what I have heard and read about these guys, well, NO NO NO DON'T GO NO NO NO.

Desert Traveller, brilliant contribution, thanks for that- your info regarding the Bell Obaikan contract at KSU is hugely important.

So Bell Obaikan are now offering just an SR 9,000 basic!

You want my take on it..... I think Bell realize its over, they're slashing their costs in order to make as much of a profit as they can before it all fall apart. And they expect to recruit 400 teachers in 2009 with those kind of salaries, ha, dream on.
It sounds like it's falling apart over there, which was inevitable given the high concentration of whackos and incompetent chancers lured out to KSA by the SR 12,000. And now even that's gone? Then so to will Bell-Obeikan, it's just a matter of time. What kind of teachers are they going to get for SR 9,000 for god's sake?
I think it's a common ploy by which dodgy companies\contractors with little experience try to cushion the initial shock of being in business- they think they can guarantee decent class standards and hoodwink their client into offering superior services while greasing recruitment.
"Hey, we're not trash like International House or Berlitz, we pay real salaries."
Once they're in business, set up, realize no one is watching them- or think they might be on the way out- the initial salaries drop to rock bottom. It's a sign of unscrupulous management and paying lip service to proper service delivery.
And the moral of the story? You might as well bracket Bell as only a little higher than a cheap, tacky, saudi run outfit like IH.
Pathetic.

Yeah, Desert Traveller, thanks to you, Bell have just booked the chair of infamy in the hall of cheapness. They can go and swap tales with a pig like S AL Q of IH on how easy it is to cheat teachers and companies alike.
Bell, the whole world is watching, the whole world is watching.
hahaha

It's the 3rd of August and the bid is still up in the air for King Faisal in Hofuf. I guess whoever gets the bid will be able to whip up a teaching staff in two months. That's taking into account that the KSA school programmes have been pushed forward into the month of October by the King. This is really a load of *@&% because to be fully staffed they would need to do the illigal visa thingy mentioned earlier in this thread. I for one am one of those poor souls that have treked out here into a sandstorm and brought my family to boot. It is not in the least of their concerns of how much they have made life difficult for other than their own families. Inshallah "THEY" (the ones who had originally gotten the contract) will not win the bid and their families may suffer as mine have. It may sound a little bitter of me mainly because I am, but any of you Faisalers out there reading this beware of the Inshallah of the 12 Monkeys. It is the real Inshallah not the fake Saudi one way inshallah that only serves their purpose. For example-- You will get your pay tomorrow inshallah, but, they don't put the inshallah when it's something like doing an extra activity or project for them that they expect of you. It's a one way inshallah and that's why I call one the Saudi inshallah and the other the real Inshallah.

One EFL employer left out of the rankings in this thread is a Saudi military contractor that pays SR18K+ per month to start, with company car and the usual benefits plus $3800 annual travel allowance. Unfortunately I'm not at liberty to divulge the company's identity. But just thought I'd add it.

Very interesting Shake N' Bake. Please feel totally free to enlighten us on King Faisal. Can you provide salary details of native speakers, Arab teachers etc?

On the inshallah (or rather than abuse of it, consider this:

Teacher: Where's my money?
Dodgy Saudi: Inshallah, soon. Bukra Inshallah.
Teacher: Inshallah your business won't burn to the ground. Inshallah.

Sorry to disappoint, but Booz Allen Hamilton at the Jubail Naval college have certainly joined the ranks of lying, cheating scum..in fact, they're charter members.
