Has anybody had personal experience with this language center in Hai Phong, Vietnam? I read that the guy who runs it, Dang Tuan, has ripped off his teachers in the past. I don't want to believe everything I read but I don't want to walk into a scam either. If anyone has anything to share, either good or bad, regarding this language center I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

No he doesn't rip off his teachers. I am just back from working there. I was paid everything that he said from the beginning . I had no problem there. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. The students were very nice . Really nice school! It was a lot better than all of the schools I have been in China. I hope to go back there again.

After reading billrs's report on both posts I'm not sure I believe he is who he says he is. The sentences are very short and simple and there is a past tense mistake. It looks like it's been carefully written by a non native speaker.

Sorry BenE. I am an American with an MBA from an Ivy League University . I can write longer sentences if you like. I was just trying to share my experience the last two weeks in Haiphong. It was everything they said it would be. If you don't chose to believe me, that is your choice!

Indeed it is. Maybe I'll hop on a train and have a look for myself sometime. If you can live on $200 a month though you must be living in a tent.

It is easy to entry into a market/country as a teacher. My background is business. I came to China as a teacher, and I have been a business professor and corporate trainer. But I am sick of Beijing. The reason I went to DTLC was Mr. Dang gave me an opportunity to see Vietnam and get paid. I am break from my university in Beijing, and I want to get out of China. The job market in the States is pretty bad, so I decided to look at Vietnam. The economy there has still been growing during the economic problems lately. The country does need managers and development. They why I went there.[/img]

Ben, check out the cost of living in Vietnam online. A beer in a bottle is about .50-.75 USD, a Coke is about the same price. I am told apartments are about $100 a month. But DTLC put me up in a hotel during my 2 week stay, and paid for my food. It wasn't a 5 star hotel, but it was clean with air conditioning, TV, and wireless internet!

.....Because the internet never lies.

And the price of beer and coke is an excellent indicator of the overall prices in Vietnam...

Please don't talk to me like I'm an idiot, I do actually live here. Sure you can live for $200 if you live in a dive and if you get Vietnamese prices for everything and never eat any western food and walk to work everyday but it's gonna be tough to do. I'd be impressed if you can manage that.

As for $100 a month for rent.....It might be possible as I hear the prices drop like a stone outside of Hanoi.

the problem with a local trying to pass himself off as a native speaker is that the more untruths he spins, he just digs himself a bigger hole.

it's been pointed out already that his writing style, and so on , IS NOT the work of a professor.

i don't wanna waste any more of my time to expand on this.

however i would like to say , the fact that the title 'Mister' has been used, absolutely confirms to me that the poster is indeed a local, perhaps even Mr. Dang himself?

as we all know, native speakers ( inc Viet Qs) would not use titles on a forum, or in any informal situations.
