We are a married teaching couple with close over 20 yrs experience each. Initially qualified overseas but have since got a degree in New Zealand and have been teaching in NZ school for 11 years. Applications had all the boxes ticked as per requirements and......declined by MOE with no explanation. Extremely frustrating. |

Hi
So sorry to hear of your disappointment. So frustrating not to know the reason for your application being knocked back, but I'm afraid that is the way of things.....
I wish you lots of luck as you continue your job hunt.
All the best |

I have heard of some being declined because of studying papers in religon.
Or currently the ministry seems to be denying those with degrees gained through distance learning....off campus.....
......anything...? |

Hi again,
You say you 'initially qualified overseas' - this might have been the stumbling block - which country ? |

Thanks for the interest. Could possibly be a couple of the above: originally qualified in South Africa which wasn't seen as a problem( although we might not have got positions due to the quota system); as per all training institutions in South Africa pre 2000, a compulsory short course in "religious ed. " was done.....Who knows?
Our collective years of experience, qualifications and knowledge of teaching ESL students, and the enthusiasm to make the most of the Brunei experience , could have been well utilised....
Back to the drawing board! |

Ah yes, very frustrating. I suspect it might have been the South Africa bit. And no doubt it was the minions in the ministry and not CfBT who had the problem. Good luck! |

Yes, was the the MOE not CfBT who declined applications- in fact CfBT have been excellent despite the negative outcome.
You would think that with 11 yrs New Zealand primary experience(and 8 yrs NZ citizenship), some sort of rational thinking would prevail in MOE offices. |

I have heard the following joke applied to Bruneian life....
'Logic'..... is a four letter word in Brunei.....
Accepting another country's 'method of madness' ...'madness of methods'?....sometimes very difficult here..... |
