I have an undergraduate degree in finance, so I am reasonably comfortable with business terms and concepts; I was just kind of curious if teaching Business English pays that much more than a general English teaching position. Does it lend itself to finding more private students?

Thanks,

In Peru it doesn-t pay much more. People are usually more motivated, but tend to cancel a lot due to meetings, etc. Also, none of my business ENglish students have ever done their homework.

None of anyone's business students have ever done their homework. Wink Nature of the beast.

In Ecuador, at least, business English doesn't get you anything extra pay wise.

If you have the profile to freelance, rather than going through an institution, this may increase your take somewhat. But that's true whether or not you're teaching business English.

Also requires an independent local visa, though...

Best,
Justin

I'm working at an language institute in Costa Rica and teach business people who actually demand and then do their homework. But their company is paying a lot for their lessons so maybe they're more motivated. In answer to your question, the school where I work gets about 5x more per hour from these business clients and I see exactly $0 of that.
