Dear All:

My apology. I asked about how to stick a personal picture on my forum profile but forgot which thread I asked it on. Would somebody kindly instruct me how to do that? Thx alot.

Dear Destionable,

You need to go to your profile:

"Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB."

and then enter the url:

Link to off-site Avatar:
"Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image you wish to link to."
For example, I got mine from here:

http://avatars.jurko.net

Regards,
John
I'm assuming that by "personal picture" you mean an avatar (you definitely would NOT want to post a picture of yourself. So, unless you have that "personal picture" on a url somewhere, it may not be possible.

Dear John,

I think that destionable and I are in the same boat, so to speak, downstream without a picture. You have given those instructions recently and while they appear adequate, what I think must be missing is the prompt/whatever you call it on the actual newbie profile settings page.

Super "O" might not be up to the challenge of answering this one. Perhaps it is linked to number of posts, though it's hard to see the reasoning in that. Maybe it is time to 'ask a mod.' Idea

All I remember is using copy and paste with the URL and then hit enter...

What happens if you try that or hitting 'submit'?

Now, when will thosemoons line up?? Very Happy

Ah ha! Yes, we have a fourth section called "avatar control panel" at the bottom of the page. It may be that avatars will not be allowed at all for new people. There has been a growing problem with people sticking on huge avatars that eat up half the page. We keep losing options as people abuse them. We used to be able to post pictures in the posts, but then the creeps started posting porn and that was that. We used to be able to use the memberlist, but spammers started abusing that to mine for information... along with spamming PMs (which is why the restrictions on number).

As usual, the bad guys ruin it for the others. Keep checking your profile section and see if the avatar section appears. Then come back and tell us at what number of posts it appeared.

Thanks to all of you for lending some help. I think I'll have to go to the horses mouth...DAVE. I rechecked my profile options and there is no option to add a pix. However, the info sent by John, VS, Grendal and perhaps others was interesting regarding a LIMIT of how much we can use the forum...Hum
