My family and I hope to take a vacation and fly to Indonesia. We're interested in spending a few days in Imdramayu to try to find our housemaid. Are there any places to stay in the area? Is it an interesting place to visit? I'd like to see how the actual Indonesians live and work out in the countryside. |

There are plenty of cottages and cheap hotels in Indramayu. Although you will find very few advertising on the internet.
There's not a whole lot to do there, but it's a relatively relaxing and clean place. It's right by the coast, but the beaches are nothing special. To be honest, I'd had enough after 2 nights there. Cirebon is only a 1 hour drive further east if cabin fever strikes.
I hope you have detailed directions for your maid's place. Although the city centre is small, the region is big. |

Thanks Rayman. Still haven't gotten there but hope to soon. Is the city spelled with an N or M (Indramayu) or (Imdramayu)? I may have to change my username to reflect this. |

It's Indramayu. Indra derives from indera meaning 'the gods'. It can also refer to one of the 5 senses. eg. indra mata = sense of sight. As for Mayu, I'm not sure. I'm assuming it must be part of the local dialect. Maybe someone else can enlighten us... |

She must be one special maid with all the efforts you have made over the past months to locate her. |

The housemaid in question had a good relationship with both dw (darling wife) & dd (darling daughter) but couldn't speak or understand a word of English. The former was more important than the latter so we want her back. Also, I can honestly say she had a honest and sincere heart. I believe that to be rare in housemaids.
The question is: how faithful will she be. We gave her a cell phone to contact (or we'd call her). We told her (through an translator) that we wanted her back when we moved to KSA. Now that we're here, we haven't been able to contact her.
Does that satisfy your curiousity? |
