Hello, I am currently seeking employment in Chile; preferably in Santiago or Valparaiso. I have two years of teaching experience and youth development work in Georgia (former Soviet Union). I also have a TESOL certification.
I was wondering when schools in Chile hire. The school year starts in March if I'm not mistaken but do private schools have a different schedule? I would like to leave within the next couple of months but am wondering if that would be possible if school aren't hiring yet. Based on your experiences, is it possible to survive on teaching salary alone or do you supplement with private lessons?
Does any one know of good private institutions that they could recommend? Also I would like to know about any successful NGOs in the area though this may be the wrong forum.
Thank you in advance for all of your help! Santiago looks beautiful and I can't wait to get there. |

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I noticed that most of the forum threads for Chile are a bit old and was hoping that someone could give me more recent advice. Thanks! |
