|
|
I am new the the Midle East but have taught in other countries for the past 5 years. Received an offer for a total value of 1500 KWD per month which includes housing and transoort. There are 30 days of paid annual vacation included. Is this offer about right? How much would an average one bedroom cost to rent and are there furnished units available?
Is there anybody on this Board who has previously taught in Korea who might be able to compare Korea with Kuwait? Thank you. |

It is difficult to give you the information if we don't know your credentials. BA? legitimate teaching certification from your home country? TEFL Cert (week-end or legitimate - CELTA preferred) Is the 5 years of experience related to the position applied for?
Is this for a school? language school? oil company?

Good questions, VS. Make the guy think.
I'm trying to remember when you left Q8. Was it 1994? |

What the hell does that have to do with it? I notice that you didn't answer his question since he didn't give us the required information.

That is the same amout I get- total salary and housing- teaching ESL in Kuwait. I doubt you can find anything better. Plenty of ESL jobs here pay less. |

Most local hires here are being offered 750-900KD as school owners are chancing their arm with a ' hey you're here, be grateful.....I don't care what qualifications and experience you have....take it or leave it'. Overseas hires with exp and qual seem to be on anything between 950- 1300 KD + about 150-200 KD rent.
Mind you.....could all go ar53 about t1t. |

Yes as long as you don't travel to dubai every weekend and stock up on eth at home.
250 rent/ 150 rent or rent to buy car leaves you 1100 per month. 500 to save and 600 to play with. You're laughing.
As soon as you get your salary every month you should immediately send about 500 back to an account at home, where it will gather interest, look good, and be out of temptation.... Before you realise it, it will be June and you will have saved 5000KD ( 10000 pounds, 15000$). |
