Canuk girl,
I'm living in what is essentially a Nova apartment - slightly overpriced, semi-furnished and no key money paid. The guy to whom I pay my rent is contracted by Nova, but not an employee. Check out your situation - are you paying rent to Nova or to a contractor? If so, why move if the new school job is within an easy commute of the school? If it's too far - in other words, the time you spend on trains could be spent teaching eikaiwa - maybe it's worth the effort to move.
Can you keep your Nova job as a p/t gig only? There are lots of p/t Nova teachers who work the evenings. How about shift-swapping? Lots of Nova folks do that.
Something to keep in mind about jr/sr high schools - depending on the school, the workload can be very demanding. I work at a school where I've got lots of responsibility and get paid accordingly. I do pick up short contracts for eikaiwa - Saturdays and some weeknights - but I find these eat into my time for myself.
There are lots of options to weigh. Talk to the other Novaites and find out what they think, hey? |

Have to agree that it seems like lot to go through for 2 nights a month. I would either call in sick, since in a way you are making up the money at another job or swap/slide them.
Talk to your AT, since you say he is a nice person. Maybe they can make your schedule work better for you. (Yeah, right, it is NOVA - but sometimes it may work!) |
