I just came back from China in June and would like to go back to teach in a year or two, with two elementary kids in tow. They have not been there. Sichuan Province (rural or Chengdu, not Chongqing) and Nanjing are my target areas.
1. Will a work visa allow my children to come along?
2. Outside of the two cities, where would I be able to enroll them?
3. Would a teaching contract that provides housing be willing to find a two bedroom apt?
4. Would the pay generally be enough to support all three of us? Not planning on owning a car, our feet and taxis are cheap.
5. How do I go about hiring a safe nanny who can also help with homework should I have to work late (if an expat isn't available, Chengdu has a close knit Irish and American expat community)?
I plan to work in the states for a year in order to raise about $10k for the trip expenses. Also, I have a BA and, by that time, a middle school teacher cert with esl with only a year or two p.s. teaching and/or tutoring experience.
Thanks. |
