This job, http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/china/index.cgi?read=20506
is not what it states. I was just talking to Chelsea on the phone. She sent me a contract, it was a joke. She sent me another one, it was a joke. The salary isn't 10,000. Who actually takes any of these jobs? |

The 2nd contract sent to me had a salary of 8,000, the first one was 6,000 with a monthly bonus of 1,000 if u do a good job. The living allowance was 1,000 eventhough a small apt in that area is 1,500. I was also told that classes have around 20 students but sometimes 30 or more. That's a big difference. Good luck teaching 25 hrs per week (too many) to 30 students in a class between the ages of 3-6. |

Well of course it's going to be a joke when this is their only qualification:

1. Native-English speakers with a neutral accent from Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Freshmen are welcome. |
They don't seem to care about your education background, teaching experience, classroom management skills and on and on. Oh listen, you have a "neutral accent" (what the hell does THAT mean?) so come on over! I notice those from USA are unwelcome. That's somewhat unusual. I'm guessing those hailing from western Canada, for example, will speak with a much different accent than those from, perhaps, New Zealand. |

Welcome to the ESL Cafe, glad you could join.
As for "false advertising"... you have to apply to multiple places to find what you are looking for I'm afraid. There is a lot of this. |

China is a beautiful place with a fascinating culture and friendly people. We hope you enjoy your time here.

PS - For the record, I plagarized that from "Full Metal Jacket".
It doesn't matter, I think. |

Just the thought of false advertising in China fills me with amusement!
This is the country where a shop can attach a board with a price on over a rack of four hundred garments. Then claim it only applies to the XXXS one that is buried somewhere in the middle! |

An old Chinese saying fairly well sets forth the Chinese understanding of advertising: "Hang up a sheep's head and sell dog meat."
Let any foreigner who does business with the Chinese beware. |
