I was once told by a doctor that if you wanted to get a lot of tests done and have the insurance company cover it, you should go in complaining of "fatigue". Apparently, fatigue can have such a wide range of causes that it justifies almost every test you can imagine. Just a thought.

Since your the older Sheikh, I will take benefit from you. Smile

How can you get the visa processed if you don't send in the copies of the medical tests (lab, urine, stool, etc)?

This question was answered before, either on this thread or elsewhere.

At least in the case of the London embassy, they do not require copies of the individual tests. All they need is the medical form signed and stamped by the doctor, and stamped in turn by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most doctors will 'sign off' on the tests they feel are unneccessary.

Hello all,

OK, Im starting to think this whole temp-insurance thing may be a waste of time and money. VS, you made some very valid points about insurance companies trying to dodge paying for anything. Plus, I guess it would be hard to think that I could just sign up for some insurance, expect them to pay for it, and then drop them. If that were the case, I imagine everyone would just do the same for whenever they needed to see a doctor. Then again, apparently SA (hope you dont mind the acronym as we have 2 Sheikhs now) was able to get away with it.

Cleo, my employer claims they will reimburse me but, after the experience I went through last year in Saudi, I trust Saudi employers as far as I can throw them. Basically, as you probably know, most of them will tell you whatever you want to hear just to get you over there. Then you get to see their true colors once youre actually there. Not to mention, Im not even guaranteed the visa (explanation was posted earlier in this thread) so Im just trying to keep my costs down as much as possible.

SNB, you mentioned your doctor signed off on the unnecessary tests. Was there anything else in addition to the stool? Then again, SA countered with a good question too about applying without copies of all the lab tests. Now Cleo that may be the case in the UK, but it definitely isnt so here in the US. My fellow Americans, please back me up here.

John, I have an appointment with a doctor this week. I am basically going to go in there, show him the paper he needs to fill out, and imagine he will then order whatever tests I need. Correct me if Im wrong, but is that not how it basically works? As you can see, Im a first-timer here.

As always, any and all advice it greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nobody is guaranteed a visa. However, the biggest hurdle is for your employer obtain a visa authorisation code for you from the MFA in Riyadh. Once this has been obtained, you can be pretty sure you will get the visa, a few potential 'hiccups' notwithstanding.

So I suggest not doing any tests or incurring any other visa related expenses until your sponsor informs you that they have obtained the visa code for you. In any case, there's little point in doing any of the tests far in advance, as the embassy will not initiate the visa process until they have received that all important authorisation code.

If it really is the case that you need to present copies of each individual test to the embassy, then there are probably no short cuts and you'll have to get each and every test done, however unneccessary it may be.

Hey Cleo,

You know in my particular case, I figured getting the authorization code from the MoFA was the easy part. I have some other concerns about the embassy in Washington not stamping my passport which I discussed earlier in this thread.

You are also probably right about holding off with the physical until my employer actually secures a visa for me. I'm a little anxious to leave and was just trying to save time and prepare myself so that as soon as it does come, I can go right to the cultural mission/embassy to apply. The medical test is the last major part of my application I'm missing (besides my employer related documentation). I guess it only takes a few days to get the results though, right?

By the way, do any of you US applicants know how important it is to have a copy of your TEFL certificate certified/notarized and stamped by the US State Department? According to the school I obtained my certificate from, it takes awhile and it's not cheap. Therefore, I don't want to be bothered if it's not necessary. For what it's worth, I do have the original certificate.
