You've hit the nail on the head, succinctly. Adopting a "go with the flow attitude" will lead to one having a far more enjoyable time in this country rather than getting septic about things for which they cannot control.

Indeed, Duffy has it right, perhaps the secret to happiness wherever one may be!

Well, a doobie or two also helps I guess; although, not advised in Oman.

I've got a query.
The enrollment is down at Nizwa this semester (rather drastically) and my friends in Saudi tell me it is happening there also. Are you all seeing this trend? What are the possible causes? We've kicked around H1N1 of course as Oman went all silly over that scare. The present economy would be the favourite choice of most. But are there any other ideas? Demographics? Buraimi opening up another college?

"Lalah" was oversubscribed at start of first semester and is still receiving more students (23 coming next Semester). The initial intake was up on last year.

Mayhaps the stability of the English department's teachers in Salalah COAS has become synonomous with "Quality", and encourages students to apply to come here. After all, why go to "Planet Sohar" with all that entails!!

While the enrollment may be down in many places, the interesting thing to me is that they are still short of teachers everywhere. We are still bringing in teachers, and I am still getting queries from every place I applied at asking me if I'm still interested and do I know anybody else I can recommend. Where have all the teachers gone (long time passing...)?

For me, this IS better salary. Figuring in the benefits, I've tripled the salary from my last job, and I had one of the better paying gigs in Warsaw.
