Yes, it reminds me of how some South Koreans will be so helpful to white foreigners and then turn around and be so mean in Filipino immigrant workers. In my opinion a lot of South Koreans who are nice to white foreigners are only doing because they want white people to have a good image of Korea. They are not doing out of the kindness of their heart.
Or because they think all white people are rich and they're hoping the white folks will throw some money their way.

Chancellor, not true at all. The average income in South Korea is around $30,000US. Many Koreans that I knew were far richer than me.

I had a very different experience the several times I was in Korea during my Navy career.

I have taught in Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and for the federal government--Slovakia, Japan, Djibouti, Afghanistan in that order. Currently, I am in the Republic of Georgia and these are probably the friendliest people I've ever been around. They take 'hospitality' to a new level. BTW, Koreans were the most difficult for me to adapt to.

If one is single, in my opinion the dating scene in Korea is not too friendly.

Dear Bhemmat,

"Americans."

Wow - another country heard from - literally. Thanks for the vote. If you're ever in the neighborhood, please drop by.

Regards,
John
