on the site for CELTA British Council it says the price is
LE 10,000 can someone tell me what that means?

i'm not sure if they are talking about british pounds or egyptian pounds. Thanks

Is the CELTA just one 4-week course or is it a diploma program? I'm looking at the cost of $2,000 USD and that's pretty steep compared to other TEFL courses.

Just one Four-Week course. It probably works out to $1700, but I use simple "5" as a divisor when going from LE to US$.

For comparison, TEFL Int'l in Alexandria is $1500 US$, and you don't get a CELTA at the end.

What other programs have you looked into, and what are those prices?

The CELTA is the most expensive, but you are paying for its reputation and that no employers question it. There are so many shady... and generally useless certs out there. You are not necessarily a better teacher because you have a CELTA versus generic TEFL cert, but the employers tend to think that you are. Laughing
